Circuit training is what you get when you combine strength training
with aerobic training. It's a good way to become stronger and increase
your endurance at the same time. It can contain weight lifting exercise
as well as aerobic exercises
The basics are simply performing a batch of exercises, right after
each other without rest. Followed by a short rest and you'll repeat
that sequence 2 or 3 times.
For example you might do 20 push-ups followed by 14 squats, 10 chin-ups and 1 minute of knee-raises, after that you have a 2 minute rest and you repaet the whole sequence 2 more times. This way you build strength, by doing the actual stength exercise, but because you go directly into the next exercise you keep your heart-rate up, the same thing that happens when cardio-training. Resulting in burning calories.
Apart from building strength and endurance you also
Save time, because you spend less time resting between sets and on cardio-training
Lose fat, because of burning much more calories than a normal weight-training
Work your whole body, most of the circuits are designed for this purpose, of course it's also possible to target a more specific area.
